Andersen - probably the most widely known brand - when someone doesn't know what brand to use, I specify their windows using Andersen model numbers
Pella - another very popular brand, well-known for their "Architect Series" and "Designer Series" -- for those on a budget, check out the "Pella Proline" collection
Weathershield - have several unique window shapes & grille patterns as stock items
Marvin - one of the few to offer a "true divided light" window -- have a vinyl window called "Marvin Integrity"
Caradco - not as well known, but one of my repeat architect clients swears by them
Velux - makers of skylights

Premdor - another popular entry door company
Clopay - for garage doors
Designer Doors - for overhead garage doors that look like historic swing doors; also have matching entry doors
Pinecrest - an extensive collection of unique architectural styles for interior and exterior entry doors

Heatilator - prefabricated gas and wood-burning fireplaces
Heat-N-Glo - another manufacturer of prefab gas and wood-burning fireplaces
HearthNet - an excellent source of general information on manufacturers of fireplaces, stoves, and their accessories

American Standard - for kitchen and bath
Jacuzzi - great tubs and shower enclosures - a very informative web site
Kohler - fixtures for kitchen and bath, plus cabinets, vanities, and tile
Noland - local Frederick warehouse

Merillat - kitchen cabinetry
Aristokraft - more kitchen cabinetry
Formica - traditional laminated countertops
Corian - solid-surface upscale countertops
Appliance Manufacturers Websites:
General Electric - ranges, refrigerators, dishwashers, washer/dryers
Kitchen Aid - another company that offers a wide variety of appliances

Viking - a high-end manufacturer of commercial-grade ranges for use in the home
Building Materials Websites:
Georgia-Pacific - engineered lumber, laminated beams, sheathing
Trus Joist - engineered lumber, and the brand I usually specify on plans when we're not using conventional floor framing
Owens Corning - best known for having the Pink Panther as their insulation "spokesperson", this company supplies many other building materials, including shingles, sheathing, and siding
Dryvit - the leader in EIFS (Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems) - this is a popular alternative to stucco
Fypon - one of several manufacturers of polystyrene mouldings - louvers, columns, decorative headers, handrails, etc., which look as if they're made of wood
CDM - another manufacturer of polystyrene mouldings
Certainteed - a company which makes many different products: insulation, sheathing, roofing products, plumbing supplies, windows, and siding ("Wolverine" is one of their recognized brands)
El Dorado Stone - a manufacturer of synthetic stone. Looks like the real thing!
James Hardie - fiber-cement plank siding, synthetic shake siding. A beautiful alternative to vinyl siding because it looks like wood, with little maintenance required.

Autodesk - the company that created AutoCAD, the program I use for computer-aided drafting
International Code Council - this is the organization that publishes the CABO One- and Two-Family Dwelling Code, used in residential construction, and the BOCA National Building Code, used in commercial construction. This site is of more interest to builders and architects than homeowners.
